NOVOSIBIRSK TEENAGERS
WHY WE NEED THEM
No money
Average income in the family is relatively higher the minimum salary: 9.488 rub (135 euros) per person
Insufficient number of educationаl institutions to study audiovisual production
Only two alternatives:

- TV VGTRK Novosibirsk
https://vk.com/tvandkino
TV school binded to a governmental channel.
Standard quality, narrow specialization. Each course costs 59.000 rub (843 euros): TV presenting, sound design, cinematography / camera operation.
Duration of each course: 6 months, internship at a TV channel during the last month.
No scholarships.

- KinoProba film school for children
https://vk.com/kinoproba54
Film production studio designed for children from 7 to 16 y.o.
Basic knowledge.
Participation in the shooting of feature films, television programs and theatrical productions.
Central location, classes held on weekends.
Programs: general course (general skills of working on stage, television and cinema), singing classes, choreography, sound design, sound engineering, camera operation, photography, journalism, acting.
No scholarships.

Evident lack of accessible professional education: no audiovisual training centers located close to the city. As a result, a financially disadvantaged part of the community does not have access to audiovisual education.
No access to technological infrastructure and software
Software (Adobe) and quality hardware (cameras, computers) are too expensive, rental services are not affordable.
Need in social projects
There is a great need in social projects that would help develop local communities and work on the solution of existing problems, such as unemployment, poverty, high criminality rates and unfavourable environment (drug addiction, alcoholism, domestic violence, etc).
At the moment not much is done, especially in the creative sector. It can be done but is not done.
As a result: brain drain of creative teenagers (destination - Moscow & Saint Petersburg), except for the ones from poor communities (not affordable).

RODA Labs creates a more favourable environment for teenagers and contributes to the development of the region: there will be more qualified young professionals in the creative sector, more job opportunities and a culture enriched by new creations.
Closest institutions to study audiovisual production - in other cities
The only near-professional institution that is located close to Novosibirsk are is in Tomsk (206 km from Novosibirsk).
School of Music, Theatre and Cinema. 18 masterclasses on video production, 7.200 rub (103 euros)

All the major film school and video production courses are in Moscow and Saint Petersburg.

All the variants are inaccessible to the teenagers, who are unable to cover travel costs, rent and daily expences in another city.
Novosibirsk area is underrepresented in the regional cinematography
As a result of massive brain drain and lack of cinema-related institutions, the region is underrepresented both nationally and internationally: low film festivals participation, as a result - low visibility of the region and no promotion of local artists.
- Need of place branding and
investments

- New vision in audiovisual production
Novosibirsk is a third largest city in Russia, with a great touristic potential.

Cultural initiatives like RODA and creation of job opportunities in the creative field will potentially "keep" the youth, attract international investments and, as a result, enrich regional culture and develop regional business.

And finally: through offering free and prospectuous educational and career opportunities to teenagers from disadvantaged communities, we give the voice to those who normally do not have it. Interested what they want to say?
